Conference Moderation: Impact Stage of Bits & Pretzels
In 2019, Bits & Pretzels, Munich's largest founders' and start-up festival hosted Barack Obama as a Keynote speaker. The year's conference was themed "Impact" and the idea was to make sure that in the era of Fridays for Future, founders and investors also paid attention to the societal impact their businesses had. We were asked to MC a dedicated stage to the theme of impact that would bring together a wide range of panelists from leaders in the impact investing space, "tech for good" businesses but also climate change scientists. The challenge was to make the impact stage relevant to a broader start-up and investor audience.
VfG Contribution
- Supported orchestration of day-long stage programme together with events company and conference organisers
- Prepared content-driven panel discussions that would be engaging for the general public
- Led preparatory calls with all Impact Stage moderators and presenters
- Performed role of MC for entire Impact Stage: from introduction, to fun ice breakers involving the SDGs, to moderating specific panels to finally closing the day
Impact on Client & Society
- General audiences, founders and investors not yet aware about the phenomenon of impact investing were made aware of this trend in finance and had the chance to be connected face-to-face with key funds and accelerator programmes
- The Impact Stage was such a success that the theme of impact is being considered to be "mainstreamed" into future conferences
